INTERACTIVE PATIENT PROFILES for CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE (Microsoft Kinect)
Our task was to take the COPD patient profiles that we created earlier in the year and adapt them to an interactive convention experience to show physicians what it's like to live with the disease -- all with limited physical space and budget.
We came up with an interactive experience using the Microsoft Kinect motion-sensing camera. Each patient profile tasks the user with activities to perform for a short period of time twice in a row; this allowed users to experience the same activity as someone with COPD and someone without COPD. The COPD version of the activity is much more difficult to perform and is constantly interrupted by specific symptoms, like coughing and breathlessness.
